What is Hemorrhoids?

Causes
- Aging
- Chronic constipation or diarrhea
- Pregnancy
- Heredity
- Straining during bowel movements
- Overuse of laxatives or enemas
- Spending long periods of time on the toilet (e.g., reading)

Any of the following may be a sign of hemorrhoids:
- Bleeding during bowel movements
- Protrusion of skin during bowel movements
- Itching in the anal area
- Pain in the anal area
- Sensitive lump(s)
Schedule a visit with surgeon. You will be throughly examined and managed depending up to stage of symptoms. Mild symptoms can be relieved frequently without surgery. With nonsurgical treatment, pain and swelling usually decrease in two to seven days. Treatment includes:
- High ber diet – to make stools soft ,formed and bulks
- Avoiding excessive straining -reduce the pressure on hemorrhoids
- Shortening time on the toilet
- Plenty of oral uids
- Taking warm tube bath ( sitz bath)
- Topical treatment : use ointment for relief
SURGICAL TREATMENT
In case severe pain, thrombosed hemorrhoid is severe, your surgeon may decide to remove the hemorrhoid and/or clot with a small incision.
Rubber Band Ligation:
Treat Internal hemorrhoids that protrude during bowel movements. Positioning a small rubber band over the base of the haemorrhoid, cut of its blood supply and causing to shrink and eventually fall of in a few days. The wound usually heals in one to two weeks. Mild discomfort and bleeding may occur. This treatment needs to be repeated for complete treatment of the hemorrhoids depending on the size or if they return.
Injection and Coagulation:
Involves injecting a sclerosing agent into internal hemorrhoids and reduce blood flow to the area. Both methods are fairly painless and cause the hemorrhoid to shrink. Several treatments may be needed. This cannot be used for external hemorrhoids.
Staplers hemorrhoidopexy:
Hemorrhoidectomy is considered when:
- Clots repeatedly form in external hemorrhoids
- Ligation is not effective in treating internal hemorrhoids
- The protruding hemorrhoid cannot be reduced
- There is chronic bleeding
- Try warm bath
Prevention
- Stay hydrated highlight how drinking plenty of fluids helps to soften stools, reduce pressures and strain.
- Don’t skip fibre, regular intake of fibre improves regular bowel movement
- Regular exercise relieves pressure on veins
- Avoid prolonged sitting pressure on vein produce weakness.
- Try warm bath
